The rule of thumb is that you should not take your baby into a public place until about 6 weeks or so. The reason being is that the baby is more susceptible to catching colds and germs from a large crowd of people. They are also not used to being outdoors and can get sick that way as well. Most people however, do not follow that rule. Many new mothers want to show off their babies and while they may not take them out a week after they are born but they surely do not reach the 6 week mark.

Some new moms can’t help but take the baby out they may have errands to run and that may require a trip to the super market or the mall. If you bundle up the baby real well and invest in a stroller cover you don’t have to worry about the baby catching germs because the stroller cover will help protect the baby.

Your baby’s health is your responsibility and whether or not you take your baby out is up to you. Just make sure you take the proper precautions and pay attention to the weather. Parents of premature babies will have to take extra special care of their babies. If you are parents of a premature baby then consult your doctor about how long you should wait. Every new mom wants to show off their new baby but to risk your child’s health, people can wait to see your baby or they could come to you and see the baby themselves.
