The answer to this question like almost anything regarding baby care is a matter or parental preference. Some parents like to keep the baby in the same room as them for the first month or so and unless you have a huge bedroom then most babies sleep in a bassinet. These are a smaller alternative to the crib. The bassinet has a raised bed so you can pick up the baby with ease. These bassinets also fit great in a corner of the bedroom if space is a issue.
Cribs are the other alternative to bassinets. With a crib you have to make sure you get a sturdy crib with spaces no more than a few inches wide. You have to make sure the baby cannot get stuck in any part of the crib. You have to make sure that you have bumpers placed around the crib.
No matter what you put your baby to sleep in, make sure they have a blanket with holes like a knit blanket, so the baby cannot suffocate themselves. If you are too nervous, place your baby in a warm outfit to sleep in and they won’t need a blanket. Never place your baby on their belly’s while sleeping. Make sure your baby is as safe and comfortable as possible. The better night they have will in turn be a better night for you.
